SRG SSR Idée Suisse
Arbor Media has provided SRG, the largest provider of digital media in Switzerland, with a new Compliance Recording System. At SRG we use ASI capturing from two transponders to provide the required storage of broadcasted material. As SRG has combined HD and SD material in the ASI stream we provide HD transcoding from H.264 video with AC3 audio to a Windows Media ASF Format stream with four audiotracks as well as SD transcoding from MPEG2 Video with Mpeg Audio to ASF. The radio signal is also taken from the ASI signal, each radio channel in the ASI signal is transcoded to an ASF stream for normal use in the Logdepot webclient. Metadata is taken from the ASI signal and inserted in an SQL database for display usage in the Logdepot webclient and as additional info at export time. To provide redundancy we developed a switching videologger. In rest this machine is recording a fixed channel. If one of the encoders fails the redundant logger will switch to the channel of the encoder which is absent. A channel can be switched from HD input to SD input as long as the output format remains the same. The system records eight Video channels and 19 Radio channels to a redundant storage. The redundant storage solution is described in this news item we already published before on our website. |
