Ron Smits resigns as Director

More than 28 years ago, I started Arbor Media with the aim to build a small company producing and delivering cool software applications in the audiovisual market.
“Small” meant max 5 employees, because my passion was software / product development and not management. Within a couple of years, this got out of control. The company quickly grew larger than the intended 5 people and for a very long time, this felt right to me.

But now, in 2020, with the current size of the company, the steep growth curves of the last years and the expected growth for the coming years, the time has come for me to step back.

I am proud of what I have achieved with Arbor Media, and I think history proves that building up a company, is something that suits me really well. But bringing Arbor Media to the next level requires different skills and that is not “my cup of tea”. The last years, proved to me that the powerful and capable team consisting of Karina, Arthur and Shanna, can manage the company very well without me (and most likely better). As shareholder, I can only be very happy and proud to observe this.

I therefore have decided to formally step back from the operation and resign as director of the company per 1-2-2020.

This is not a goodbye. I am not retiring. Behind the scenes I will continue to work for Arbor Media developing cutting-edge features for our products. This way, I return to my true passion, completing the circle.
